IAG - Israel Academic Grid
Objective The goal of the IAG (Israel Academic Grid) is to establish the infrastructure for a grid that will enable various organizations to share computation resources among themselves. The project's vision is to upgrade the Internet from a data transfer network to a data processing and storage network. The IAG was founded by Israel’s eight universities, directed by the IUCC/Machba Inter-University Computation Center. Its steering committee comprises representatives from these universities, with the IUCC directing project activities.
Users Research groups interested in this technology include those involved in the fields of elementary particles physics, bioinformatics and space sciences, among others.
Cooperation is based on resource sharing: new members are required to provide other members with resources as determined by the steering committee.
Services Provision of assistance in designing and establishing junctions on the grid.
Assistance in adapting software and systems to the grid environment.
Infrastructure research in the field of parallel computation and distributed processing and distributed storage system. Transfer of data to industry and healthcare systems.
