IUCC – Inter-University Computation Center, in collaboration with AWS, announces a competition for artificial intelligence applications in academia. This competition aims to encourage the development and implementation of innovative artificial intelligence (AI)-based solutions in the fields of research, teaching, and improving services for students. The competition allows technological administrative staff, lecturers, and researchers to present original ideas and tools that can contribute to advancing learning and research at the university.

Background and Competition Objectives
– Encouraging Innovation: The competition encourages the integration of original and applicable AI solutions in academia
– Advancing Research and Teaching: Creating tools that support research and teaching, improve processes and enhances the student experience
– Strengthening the Academic Community: Creating collaborations between faculty members, researchers, and students in AI
Target Audience
– Researchers, lecturers, and research laboratory teams
– Information systems and operations staff at the university
Grant Award Competition Solutions that win first place in each track will receive funding of approximately NIS 25,000 ($7,000) to fund the solution with an AWS partner. The prize is for funding a partner to implement the idea, subject to the terms of the AWS program.

1. Tools for University Researchers
– Development of AI-based tools to assist in various aspects of research
1. Tools to improve research processes – collection, organization, and evaluation of scientific information
2. Tools to assist in various tasks required for research purposes
2. Tools for Learning and Teaching
– Development of personalized learning systems using AI
– Development of systems for evaluating academic achievements and helping lecturers manage courses
– Development of tools for teaching and learning in the era of AI
3. Tools for Improving Information Systems and Services for Students
– Development of AI systems to support service and information centers
– Tools to streamline registration processes and track academic status, finances, and related services
– Tools to streamline all stages of learning from application to alumni management
Judging Criteria
1. Relevance and usefulness to the academic community (20%)
– Does the project solve a significant need or problem for researchers/lecturers/students/staff?
– To what extent can the solution be implemented on a large scale?
2. Expected impact (15%)
– The project’s ability to create value over time and provide a competitive/qualitative advantage to the university
– Potential for expansion, replication, and reuse at other universities or in parallel projects
3. Technological feasibility (20%)
– Maturity level of the technological solution and the ability to implement it
– Is optimal use made of relevant AI tools?
4. Work plan and financial feasibility (20%)
– Quality of planning, milestones, and timeline presentation
– Realism of budget and resources (projects up to NIS 1,000,000)
5. Innovation and Creativity (15%)
– How much does the project present an innovative idea or original use of AI?
– Does the solution push the boundaries of what’s possible in academia?
6. Clear and understandable presentation (10%)
– Presentation of the idea to the general audience at the conference
